KIRKLAND, Wash. and BRUSSELS, Belgium – April 23, 2008 – INRIX®, the leading provider of traffic information in North America and ARC Transistance, the leading network of European automobile clubs and mobility organizations across 43 European countries and territories, today announced a strategic partnership to develop and deliver the most comprehensive traffic information available across Europe.
The companies will leverage INRIX’s unique approach to traffic data aggregation, GPS-probe data expertise, and sophisticated technology platforms with ARC Transistance’s leadership in the provision of mobility related content and services to the motoring industry, operating through affiliate organizations in 43 countries and territories in Europe and serving over 48 million motorists, as well as business-to-business clients.
INRIX will now be able to distribute, to its global customers, ARC’s aggregated traffic information providing a single, standard format covering more than 80% of the road network for 16 European countries. INRIX is also working directly with key ARC service providers to aggregate additional traffic speed information to enhance and expand the traffic information for each country. The best sources of traffic data are used considering the specifics of each territory including road loop sensors, GPS-enabled vehicle data, police reports and clubs’ jam busters amongst others.
In turn, ARC Transistance will now be able to offer, to its global clients, INRIX’s traffic information covering 106 metropolitan markets in the U.S. This reciprocal collaboration creates unique access to traffic information to consumers and businesses in the two largest regions in the world in terms of automobiles in use.
“The quality and coverage of traffic information in Europe varies significantly city by city and country by country,” commented Kush Parikh, vice president of INRIX. “By leveraging the reach and regional expertise of ARC Transistance and its service providers, INRIX intelligently combines GPS-enabled vehicle data with traditional sensors to provide a new level of valuable traffic information.”
“INRIX has become the leading provider of traffic information in North America in just a few short years and we expect our partnership will enhance this accomplishment,” said Charles Capelleman, product development director, ARC Transistance. “We are excited to leverage our partnership together in offering best-in-class traffic-enabled solutions to our club members as well as our B2B partners in both Europe and North America.”
