Re/max provides homebuyers with the ability to find homes based on preferred commute times with INRIX Drive Time

San Francisco – INMAN Conference – July 15, 2014

Just in time for the peak of the summer home buying season, leading traffic information and driver services provider INRIX and global real estate franchisor RE/MAX launched INRIX Drive Time on more than 50,000 agent and realtor websites nationwide.

Also available to homebuyers on Remax.com, INRIX Drive Time™ provides consumers with an easy, visual means within the individual home listings to understand drive times in traffic between the listed property and their work address, schools or other locations important to their daily commutes.

“We believe INRIX Drive Time is a game changer for RE/MAX customers. With nearly 90 percent of Americans traveling to work by car, awareness of commute times is a critical part of the home buying process, which is the single largest financial decision most of us will ever make,” said Tim Drouillard, RE/MAX Vice President, Information Technology.
To determine drive times in traffic for homes for sale on the site, consumers select a property, click on “Map with INRIX Drive Time” on the individual property listing page. By adjusting the slide bars for time of day and desired drive time in traffic, the site shows how far during such time the driver can travel to or from the property taking into account traffic conditions. Homebuyers can further refine their search to find properties best suited to their needs based on travel times most acceptable for each destination.
According to the National Association of REALTORS®, 73 percent of all homebuyers consider drive time to work a key purchase criterion. These results aren’t surprising considering that INRIX analysis of traffic in America found traffic back on the rise in the last year with drivers in America’s worst traffic cities wasting an average of 48 hours in gridlock in 2013.

“Millions of drivers have sacrificed commute time for work in their efforts to regain employment following the recession,” said INRIX General Manager of GeoAnalytics, Kevin Foreman. “As people relocate or make the decision to move closer to work to improve their commute, INRIX Drive Time provides them with invaluable insight in their search to find a home that not only meets their needs in terms of beds, baths and schools but also their desired commute time in traffic.”

Consumers interested in using INRIX Drive Time in their search for a new home can experience the tool on their local RE/MAX agent’s site, visit Remax.com or visit the INRIX blog to learn of other realtors and multiple listing services in their area with INRIX Drive Time.
