As we wrap up 2024, I want to take a moment to reflect on the journey we’ve been on together this year. It’s been a year of challenges, growth, and progress—one where we worked hard to put INRIX Signal Analytics into the hands of our customers. We know how important this tool is to the agencies and engineers who rely on it, and we’re proud of the role it plays in helping you achieve your goals. As the first-to-market solution in traffic signal performance analytics, Signal Analytics continues to raise the bar for transparency, data quality, and usability.
With 16,000 licensed signalized intersections across 21 states and 3 countries, and insights into over 3,000 corridors, Signal Analytics has grown into a trusted platform for improving traffic performance at scale.
Signal Analytics empowers agencies and engineers with cutting-edge tools that leverage connected vehicle data to improve traffic operations and measure performance at signalized intersections and corridors. It supports a variety of critical use cases, enabling agencies to:
- Identify Issues – Pinpoint corridors and intersections that are underperforming, experiencing delays, or require closer investigation to resolve issues.
- Prioritize Projects – Rank projects and adjust timelines based on real-time and historical data, ensuring resources are allocated where they are needed most.
- Quantify Impact – Measure the impact of infrastructure investments, operational changes, and traffic management strategies to assess effectiveness and drive improvements.
- Validate Alternatives – Confirm and calibrate traffic models using actual observed data, and verify public complaints to address community concerns with evidence-based insights.
This year, we’ve seen agencies create annual performance summaries to track progress and communicate results more effectively. Others have improved special event traffic management, prioritized statewide corridors for retiming, and evaluated the impact of new retiming strategies to optimize traffic flow and reduce delays.
Our Mission
Signal Analytics was created to transform traffic management by delivering scalable, cloud-based insights derived from connected vehicle data. It helps agencies monitor and optimize traffic signals, enhancing efficiency and safety while minimizing infrastructure costs. With a focus on data-driven decision-making, INRIX Signal Analytics enables users to measure key performance metrics, identify issues, and implement targeted solutions.
Key Updates in 2024
We’ve made several major enhancements to the platform this year, further solidifying its value for transportation professionals. We improved signal grouping capabilities, giving agencies the ability to organize signals more effectively and focus on key insights for prioritized areas. Algorithm enhancements expanded data quantity for more accurate and informed decisions. New metrics were added to help agencies pinpoint high-delay intersections and movements, ensuring targeted treatments to reduce congestion and improve flow.
We also continued our partnership with CATT Lab to enhance the intersection matrix tool, enabling agencies to take a deep dive into their data and identify underperforming movements and time periods. Performance improvements were made to accommodate large deployments of thousands of signals, ensuring scalability without compromising speed or reliability. Additionally, we introduced a video training library to provide agencies with resources and learning opportunities, making it easier to onboard staff and maximize the value of Signal Analytics. Looking Ahead to 2025 As we look to 2025, we’re excited to build on this year’s progress and continue enhancing Signal Analytics with new features and expanded global coverage. Our focus remains on delivering actionable insights that improve traffic flow, reduce delays, and make our roads safer and more efficient.
At the same time, we know there’s still work to do. We’re committed to continuously improving the tool, uncovering new and useful use cases, and partnering with agencies to deliver solutions that meet their evolving needs. Together, we can make our transportation systems smarter, safer, and more effective.
Thank you to all our partners, customers, and users for your continued support. We hope you’ll visit us at TRB 2025 to learn more about how Signal Analytics is helping shape the future of traffic management. If you have questions or feedback, please don’t hesitate to reach out at Signals@INRIX.com.
