About These Metrics
Availability is the probability of a driver finding an open on-street parking space on a
typical block. Availability should not be confused with occupancy — it is not equivalent
to the inverse of occupancy. Because the figure belongs to an area, downtown areas and
neighborhoods are not comparable with each other.
Cost is the approximate hourly cost within the time window. We have excluded special
rates and flat rates that go past an hour. The dataset prices 44 currencies, so
every price here is converted to the one you pick in the settings bar,
at a rate fixed for this edition. A rate quoted in won and one quoted in euros become
directly comparable; neither is shown natively.
