At INRIX, we’re always looking for ways to help our public agency partners make better, faster decisions about traffic signal performance.
That’s why we host our regular Signal Analytics User Group meetings—to share what’s new, gather feedback, and spotlight how customers are using our platform to drive real results.
At our recent Signal Analytics User Group meeting in May 2025, we highlighted some exciting enhancements now available in the platform, and heard from customers who are putting them to work in innovative ways. Here’s a look at what’s new—and how it’s making an impact.
Here’s a quick roundup of some of the most exciting updates and enhancements to INRIX Signal Analytics, plus a real-world example of how one agency is transforming its traffic operations.
New Features That Deliver Deeper Insight
INRIX has rolled out several key enhancements in recent months designed to make signal and corridor analysis even more actionable and intuitive:
- Green Calculator: This tool, which makes it easy to calculate the benefits of optimizing signals in your network to instantly see what kinds of fuel and emissions savings you could expect, is now available directly in the Signal Analytics platform.
- Delay Over Time: This feature allows users to visualize how intersection delays change throughout the day, helping you pinpoint specific time windows where performance dips. With this visual breakdown, agencies can isolate performance problems by time of day—critical for optimizing signals during peak periods, school hours, or special events.
How Franklin County, Ohio Is Using Signal Analytics
Franklin County is using INRIX Signal Analytics to monitor and evaluate 50 key signals across its network. Their old method? Manual turning movement counts, modeling, and only reviewing one-third of their signals each year.
Now, using continuous probe data and new performance metrics, Franklin County can:
- Identify intersections that truly need attention—not just those with high ADT.
- Replace sporadic studies with daily data, providing a clearer picture of how signals perform in real-world conditions.
- Prioritize improvements and justify investments with quantifiable evidence.
With INRIX Signal Analytics, they’ve shifted to a more scalable, data-driven model:
- Continuous Monitoring: The County now monitors 29 of their 65 signals daily, in partnership with the City of Dublin.
- Customized Metrics: Instead of relying solely on ADT or LOS estimates, they’re building new metrics tailored to local priorities.
- Targeted Interventions: By identifying which intersections are truly underperforming, the team can focus resources where they’ll have the greatest impact.
With a growing user community and ongoing enhancements shaped by real-world feedback, INRIX Signal Analytics continues to evolve into the definitive platform for traffic signal performance management. Learn more at inrix.com/products/signal-analytics/.
