Understanding Where Trucks Stop and Why 

Truck parking is one example. Real Women in Trucking demonstrated how observed truck parking activity can reveal where drivers actually stop, including locations outside traditional truck stops and logistics centers. 

In one Nevada analysis, more than 10,000 parking events were identified over six days, with significant activity appearing around residential areas. The findings show how observed data can help planners identify parking gaps and better understand where safer, more accessible truck parking infrastructure may be needed. 

Turning Parking Data into Actionable Intelligence 

The University of Maryland CATT Lab shows how INRIX truck parking data can be analyzed through its RITIS platform. By examining parking duration, vehicle class and surrounding land use, analysts can distinguish activity within designated parking facilities from potentially riskier parking along ramps and freeway shoulders. 

The webinar demonstrates how this type of analysis can help agencies understand parking behavior, evaluate transportation investments and uncover patterns that may be difficult to identify through traditional methods alone. 

Uncovering Supply Chain Relationships 

Spatial Risk Systems takes the analysis further by combining INRIX commercial vehicle movement data with information about manufacturing facilities, warehouses and other physical assets. 

One example examines manufacturing supply chains in North America, using truck movements to identify relationships between facilities and suppliers that may not otherwise be visible. Another applies the data to major AI infrastructure projects, including semiconductor facilities and data centers, to analyze truck volumes, delivery patterns and changes in site activity. 

The applications extend to cross-border trade, where INRIX data can provide insight into the volume and types of freight vehicles crossing borders—information that can be especially valuable as tariffs and supply chain disruptions reshape freight patterns. 

From safer truck parking to supply chain visibility and cross-border intelligence, the webinar demonstrates how observed mobility data can provide a clearer picture of how goods actually move.
